Calabrian singer-songwriter Peppe Voltarelli presents “Spremuta di Limone”, the third single from his album La Grande Corsa Verso Lupionópolis (released via Visage Music). Known for blending Italian folk, canzone d’autore, tango, and Latin rhythms, Voltarelli crafts a bittersweet love story set to a waltz-like melody, rich in poetic lyricism and dramatic storytelling.
His music draws from the traditions of Southern Italian folk, Mediterranean sounds, and chanson, influenced by artists like Domenico Modugno, Paolo Conte, and Otello Profazio. Through his expressive vocal delivery and theatrical compositions, Voltarelli merges personal narratives with social themes, creating an evocative and borderless folk sound.
The music video, directed by Tony Gutierres, was filmed in Havana, Cuba, using the city’s streets as a backdrop. It serves as a tribute to Cuban culture and its historical artistic connection with Italy. Voltarelli recently performed in Havana at the 40th Jazz Plaza Festival alongside Luca Ciarla.
His latest album, recorded in New York and produced by Simone Giuliani, features an international lineup, including Davin Hoff (double bass), Jake Owen (guitar), and Mauro Refosco (percussion). A three-time Targa Tenco winner, Voltarelli continues to evolve his style, blending folk traditions with global influences, political commentary, and a deep sense of place.
