Brazilian singer-songwriter Lara Castagnolli presents “Xilema,” an introspective single inspired by the vascular system of plants. The song draws a parallel between xylem—the tissue that transports water and nutrients in trees—and the unseen forces shaping human emotions, memories, and connections.
Co-written with Maria Chueire and Mestrinho, one of Brazil’s most celebrated accordionists, “Xilema” blends poetic lyricism with rich harmonies, exploring themes of faith, belonging, and self-discovery. The song mirrors nature’s ability to grow and adapt through invisible networks.
The accompanying music video, directed by Pedro Zanesco, was filmed in Socorro, São Paulo, where Castagnolli once lived. Shot with a 1999 camera, the video embraces a raw, nostalgic aesthetic, highlighting her deep connection with nature.
Part of her upcoming debut album, Araribá, “Xilema” was recently performed at SESC Belenzinho ahead of its release. The album reflects Castagnolli’s passion for blending Brazilian musical heritage with themes of identity, spirituality, and ecological awareness.
