Dar Disku has released “Dbayli,” the debut single from their upcoming self-titled album, due out on 27th September via Soundway Records. The track features Algerian singer Yacine Elkhaldi and highlights their fusion of Arabic heritage with contemporary dance music.
Dar Disku is a Bahraini-British duo consisting of Mazen Almaskati and Vish M. They use analogue techniques such as vintage synthesizers, tape machines, and retro recording consoles to blend traditional sounds from the South West Asian and North African (SWANA) music traditions like Algerian raï, Egyptian folk, Ethio-jazz, Sudanese funk and Khaleeji disco with contemporary influences including electronica, ambient, psychedelia, hip-hop, and jazz.
