“Maabia Koto” by Indigenous Vibes Band is a single from their latest album The Royal Tribes 1. This track, released on the 7th of August, incorporates the rhythmic patterns of the Nagila dance from northern Ghana, particularly celebrated among the Kassena and Frafra communities. It features a dynamic interplay of traditional African drumming and reggae’s distinctive one drop rhythm, highlighting the band’s fusion of genres.

The 10-piece band, led by Thomas Nii Lantey Botchway, celebrates African heritage, drawing inspiration from notable musicians such as King Bruce and Hugh Masekela. Indigenous Vibes Band was awarded the Traditional Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2022, and has become a significant force in promoting the rich musical heritage of Ghana while engaging a global audience.
