Rodrigo Gallardo’s Mundos: En Vivo en el Cerro San Cristóbal (Parte 2) documents the second half of a live concert held on 25 January at the Pablo Neruda Amphitheatre in Santiago de Chile. The performance marked the official launch of Mundos, Gallardo’s third solo album, and a pivotal release in his ongoing development as a solo artist following his earlier work with the electronic-folk trio Matanza. Staged on the slopes of Cerro San Cristóbal, the amphitheatre offers expansive views over Santiago and a natural acoustic environment that shaped the flow and arrangement of the set. The video resumes where Parte 1 left off, presenting the remaining tracks from the album in extended and restructured live versions.
Gallardo first gained recognition as part of Matanza, a group known for fusing Latin American folk with deep, mesmeric electronic rhythms. Trained in ethnomusicology and grounded in a sincere engagement with indigenous traditions, his solo work has shifted towards a more meditative, sonically spacious direction. As a solo artist, he has cultivated a musical language that brings traditional Andean instruments—quena, zampoña, charango—into dialogue with subtle electronics, real-time looping, and ambient textures.
In Parte 2, tracks such as “Viaje Astral”, “Luna Nueva” (originally from his 2021 album Sendero Cósmico), and “Puedo Ver”, unfold slowly, with reflective openings that evolve through layered percussion and communal, call-and-response vocals. These performances emphasise dynamic contrast and fluid phrasing, expanding the music’s spatial character and allowing for improvisational interplay to emerge more freely.
Produced by Dip Studio and El Servicio Postal, the video is a carefully constructed visual and sonic document of the concert’s atmosphere. Long, unhurried camera movements and the natural light of the setting contribute to a sense of stillness and intimacy, mirroring the emotional contours of the music. Mundos: En Vivo en el Cerro San Cristóbal is an extension of the album, shaped by place, presence, and shared experience.
