In this double bill, witness the extraordinary tabla solo as the Khan works his magic and three of the finest young masters on the sitar, sarod and tabla make their debut.

The Darbar Festival opens with two of India’s most loved instruments, the iconic sitar and sarod. In the first half of this double-bill performance, emerging Indian talent Sengupta and Shrivastav, perform a duet of captivating music through soul-stirring ragas from the Hindustani tradition of north India, accompanied by rising star of the tabla, Patitundi. All three make their Darbar Festival debut.

Considered the greatest master of tabla for the ghazal genre, Khan invented a new soundscape for the instrument, and in doing so became a global sensation and trendsetter. In this concert’s second half and his first major UK tabla solo, Khan takes you on a tour of the Punjab style for tabla, with the magical improvised rhythmic patterns he has become known for.
