This might be one of the rare – actually extremely rare – occasions when you can forget to damn the lockdowns and Covid-19 regulations and instead bless the fact that you’re going to spend another weekend at home, possibly staring at a screen and having to turn your living room/bedroom into a dancefloor.
Starting in a few hours (8PM GMT) and keeping the good vibes rolling till early tomorrow (4AM GMT), the London Remixed Festival will for once leave its Shoreditch home (usually on the Rich Mix‘s stages) to set up a VR concert hall and stream online a bonanza of global rhythms.
For the first time in its upbeat story, which started back in 2015, the most exhilarating festival of London’s late winter event calendar will indeed go online, global, “springy” and… FREE! Which means that you will be able to fully enjoy it and watch all its exciting sets wherever you are in the world for the price of a (voluntary) donation.
The online format has given the organisers the opportunity to put together an even more eclectic and wide-ranging line-up than usual, featuring highlights like Peruvian global bass authorities Dengue Dengue Dengue, London-based electro-gnawa wizards Electric Jalaba, Soweto afro-psychedelic explosion BCUC, nueva cumbia prophets Frente Cumbiero, Ghanaian afro-fusionist K.O.G., Colombian finest Afro-Caribbean percussion-driven trio La Perla and a dozen more…
To save you from reading more and more words and let you start getting into the Remixed Festival mood, we put together a video playlist rounding up all the acts performing throughout the two-dayer.
Check it out and don’t forget to book your online ticket(s) for Friday and Saturday!
