Mix: Radio Mukambo #591 – Pulsing Pot Pourri

Pot-pourri is a fragrant mixture of voices, beats and basslines, often enhanced with ethnic flavours, used for dancing. This musical medley of unrelated grooves takes you from Colombia to Uganda, from Cuba to Angola and from Mexico to Japan!

Pixvae ride the warm waves of Colombia’s Pacific coast on De Lado a Lado, blending the hypnotic polyrhythms of currulao into noisy art-rock for a bright from the Lyon underground.

Recorded live using Uganda’s authentic traditional instruments, Kiyira by Nilotika Cultural Ensemble interweaves local jazz, hypnotic rhythms and the raw power of traditional percussion.

Cuban percussionist Mansfarroll explores the deep links that unite the African continent with the Caribbean island, Congolese rumbas with Cuban rumbas, jazz with the whirlwind of Afro-Cuban rhythms on his new album África Sí.
