Event Preview: Our Heartbeats, A Club Night For Refugee Week @ The Jago (London; Thursday, 13th June 2024)

The Jago in Dalston will host Our Heartbeats: A Club Night for Refugee Week, organised by Counterpoints Arts to spotlight emerging DJ talent from their recent workshop. This event, part of Refugee Week 2024, will feature a line-up of new DJs trained under the mentorship of established artists Kensaye and Mahnoor at The Roundhouse. The performances will blend global and “local” beats, reflecting this year’s theme, “Our Home,” and offer partygoers an eclectic mix of musical styles.

The night will include sets from Rhythm Passport’s good old friend, Paris-born, London-based DJ, musician, producer and educator Kensaye, known for his passion for afrobeats and global bass. Also performing is DJ, BBC radio host, and founder of the SUP? Supper Club, Mahnoor, who integrates her British-Pakistani roots with dark, percussive rhythms.

Adding to the lineup, Palestinian DJ NOUR will infuse the night with her unique sound that combines traditional Middle Eastern vibes with electronic music. This fusion reflects her extensive international career, which includes residencies in renowned clubs from Tulum to Berlin and Mykonos, and performances at major global festivals including Amsterdam’s Gardens of Babylon and Woomoon in Ibiza.

Then mark your calendars for the 13th of June and head to The Jago to celebrate Refugee Week. Our Heartbeats not only offers a platform for emerging talent but also promotes cultural diversity, unity through music, and the contributions of refugees and asylum seekers living in the UK.
