Wild Mushrooms’ second single, “Le Zuo” (“The Celebration”), brings a fresh spin to a beloved Hani folk song. With its upbeat rhythm and lively energy, the track is designed to get people dancing while blending the traditional sounds of Yunnan with an uptempo twist.
The single is part of their debut album, Under the Dragon Tree, released on the 16th of October through Sea of Wood Records. The LP celebrates Hani culture by mixing traditional melodies and instruments with psychedelic rock, electronic elements, and driving rhythms.
Staying true to their roots, Wild Mushrooms predominantly perform in the Hani language, defying pressures to adopt mainstream Mandarin lyrics. Their commitment to linguistic and cultural authenticity is a defining characteristic, alongside their genre-blending sound—a dynamic mix of spiritual chants, psychedelic textures, and ska-inspired beats.
Under the Dragon Tree takes listeners on a journey into the Hani worldview, where daily life and spirituality are inseparable. The album’s title pays tribute to the dragon totem, a revered symbol in Hani culture, and the sacred trees that serve as spiritual and communal gathering points.
