Tamada, a Tbilisi-based artist, fuses electronic music with Georgian cultural elements, taking his name from the Georgian term for a celebratory toastmaster. His music reflects the clash between Georgia’s traditional conservatism and the liberal tendencies of its urban youth. In his 2021 album Dionysus vs Tamada, released through Alt Orient, Tamada navigates issues such as cultural identity in an increasingly global context, the digital age’s influence on society, and intergenerational conflicts.

On a recent COLORS performance, Tamada introduced “Dao,” a track from his anticipated album, which integrates Georgian folk elements with organic house music, marked by distinctive guitar work and rhythmic vitality. This performance exemplified Tamada’s skill in merging Georgian traditional music with current musical styles.
