“Water Moon,” the second single from South Korean composer and multi-instrumentalist Park Jiha‘s upcoming album All Living Things (Glitterbeat Records, 14th February), continues her exploration of a distinctive sound world.
Building on acclaimed releases like Philos (2018) and The Gleam (2022), Park, a Seoul native trained from a young age in traditional Korean music, fuses the sounds of instruments like the piri, saenghwang, and yanggeum with minimalist structures, ambient textures, and contemporary sound design. “Water Moon” exemplifies this approach, centring on a sparse, crystalline glockenspiel arrangement to evoke a feeling of introspective calm and cyclical continuity, reflecting the album’s thematic focus on the life cycle. The track subtly integrates post-classical, ambient, and cinematic elements while remaining rooted in her Korean musical heritage.
