Natty Campbell wants it louder. On “Rock In The Dance,” the London MC asks for more sound and more bass to get everyone dancing. It is a love song for a night out: he tells the men to dance properly with their partners and treat them right, and he says he loves his own woman like a plate of “curry and rice”.
Every bit of the track is his own work. Campbell wrote it and sang it, played the bass and keys, programmed the riddim, mixed and mastered it, and drew the cover too. He has been on the mic at London’s sound system dances since 2016, a singjay who moves between singing and the fast chat of a dancehall deejay.
The single is on Easy Vibes Records, the label he runs in Brixton with Shy Guy Jai and GVO Sounds. It comes with a dub version, “Rock In The Dub”, plus “Rock The Riddim” for the selectors, and he says plenty more music is on the way over the next few months.
