Daily Discovery: Naghib Shanbehzadeh – Tehran

Naghib Shanbehzadeh, a highly skilled percussionist hailing from Iran, embarked on his musical journey in Boushehr and Kish at the tender age of 3, under the guidance of his father. His early training encompassed traditional percussion instruments from the south of Iran, including the dammâm, doholgap, pipè, and kesser, alongside classical ones such as the zarb.

Over the years, Naghib has had the privilege of collaborating with renowned musicians like Billy Cobham, Manu Codja, and Matthieu Donarier. He is an integral member of the Shanbehzadeh Ensemble, renowned for their its of traditional Iranian music and contemporary electronic elements.

Naghib Shanbehzadeh’s latest single, titled “Tehran,” made its debut on the 23rd of January.
