Attalie keeps her voice low and close to the microphone on “A Dare”, and the live session builds around it with guitar and keys through a wash of reverb, a soft bassline underneath, and a saxophone that arrives warm and late. The tempo walks and she holds the same unhurried register from the first line to the last.

She wrote the song at the point where every box had been ticked and the fulfilment had gone missing: “Staying comfortable no longer felt enough“, she says, and the lyric weighs what a life closer to her calling would cost her.

Born in Kinshasa, she has worked a seam of quiet storm, jazz and rumba since her 2018 debut EP Polluted. Second EP Sigh was produced by Tshepang Ramoba, drummer with South African band BLK JKS, and its lead single “Homeless” premiered through The FADER before picking up play on BBC Radio 1Xtra, KEXP, KCRW and NTS. “A Dare” is her third single since October 2025, after “Carry Me” and “Light”, with an EP in preparation.
