Kasba have been blending reggada, raï, and gnawa with rock, reggae, and funk for over two decades. “Hiya Hiya Dounia,” their new single ahead of a studio album out later in 2026, is a raï song built over salsa rhythms with a jazzy horn section. The Dutch-Moroccan band bring together musicians from both sides of that heritage: Sami el Ghousli on lead vocals, Khalid Jahklal on percussion and vocals, Abdel Alariachi on percussion and drums, Zouhir on keyboards, Roel Denteneer on guitars, Dieter van der Westen on bass, Eduard de Vries on saxophone, and Mark Nieuwenhuis on trumpet.
That combination of North African rhythm and Western instrumentation has defined Kasba since they formed in the Netherlands in the early 2000s. They scored a number one hit in Morocco with “Yama Bomba” and have shared stages with Khaled, Manu Chao, and Alpha Blondy, and collaborated with the Grammy Award-winning Metropole Orchestra.
Kasba tour the Netherlands from May through November 2026, with dates at Dunya Festival in Rotterdam on 5th July, Into The Great Wide Open on Vlieland on 26th August, and Festival Achterland in Doetinchem on 24th May.
