Event Preview: Pablo Domínguez Tribute @ City Hope Church (London; Friday 27th February 2026)

On Friday 27 February, friends, family and musicians who shared bands, long journeys and late rehearsals with guitarist and percussionist Pablo Domínguez come together at City Hope Church in Bermondsey. Pablo passed away in February 2025, aged just 38, after a period of serious illness, and his absence is still felt strongly in Cádiz, London and beyond. This is the room where he gave his last performance for Tuned In London; now it fills again with people who loved him, playing for his wife Noelia and their two young children.

Pablo grew up in El Puerto de Santa María in a household where music was part of everyday life. His father, pianist Chano Domínguez, filled the home with flamenco and jazz, alongside visitors like Tomatito and Blas Córdoba. Pablo started on percussion, moved to guitar, taught himself for years, then studied formally in Barcelona and London. In the UK he carved out a quiet niche as a resident guitarist at Ronnie Scott’s and a trusted collaborator across projects linking flamenco to Rajasthani traditions and contemporary chamber music.

The evening brings three acts bound by friendship and shared musical ground. Iberian Colours, the chamber quintet led by guitarist Maria Camahort, opens the night. Soprano Laura Ruhí-Vidal, cellist Sergio Serra, violinist Violeta Valladares and percussionist Demi García Sabat, taking Pablo’s seat, thread Spanish folk and flamenco detail through classical forms. Their set includes the world première of a piece written in his memory. Javier Ruibal follows, singer-songwriter, poet, Pablo’s neighbour in Cádiz and holder of Spain’s Premio Nacional de las Músicas Actuales. His voice and guitar carry decades of craft honed at WOMAD, Union Chapel and Ronnie Scott’s. The night closes with Chano Domínguez at the piano, bringing the jazz-flamenco language he has developed over more than forty years. Father playing for son, in the room where Pablo last performed.

Presented by Tuned In London in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes and Maria Camahort, the concert raises funds for Pablo’s family. Tickets are available via the Tuned In London website, and donations to the family’s GoFundMe are warmly encouraged.
