Choquemanta, the project led by Argentine musician and producer Luciano Ramos, has released “Paca y Emérita” in a cumbia version, marking 20 years since the original composition. The instrumental rework runs on vintage analogue organs and a dub-weighted bass line, released on 21 November 2025 alongside a Rub a Dub version.
Luciano Ramos has been running popular and Latin American electronic projects since the mid-2000s, starting with Imperio Diablo (2005), then Todopoderoso Popular Marcial, his wind orchestra (2011), and Tropical Mecánica (2018), with Choquemanta as the current name.
For the anniversary version, Ramos handled composition, arrangements, production, mixing and mastering. Stripping the track to its instrumental form foregrounds the organ patterns against the low-end and cumbia rhythm, while the Rub a Dub version keeps the same melodic core but pushes bass and drums further up in the mix, reshaping the track around their pattern.
