Orchestra Gold return with “Diyanye Ko Te Sa (Desire is Unquenchable)”, a track that extends their dialogue between Malian tradition and American rock forms. The single follows their earlier piece “Diyanye Ko (Passion)”, shifting the focus from passion’s spark to the complications of unchecked desire.
Led by Malian singer Mariam Diakité, the Oakland-based ensemble frame her Bambara lyrics with distorted guitar lines, brass figures, and tightly locked percussion. The rhythm drives forward in cycles, while Diakité’s voice cuts through with directness, repeating the refrain as both warning and meditation.
The band’s sound is rooted in a decade-long collaboration between Diakité and guitarist Erich Huffaker, developed through Bay Area stages and festivals across the U.S. Here, they sharpen that partnership into a recording that holds dance-floor urgency and thematic weight in equal measure.
“Diyanye Ko Te Sa” follows their 2023 album Medicine, a release at the crossroads of healing ritual and psychedelic rock intensity.
