Recorded in one take at Villa Lala in Vienna, “Tarha” brings together Nigerien guitarist Bombino and London–Vienna duo Great Big Warm House just hours after a live set at Afrika Tage Festival in Vienna.

Bombino, born in Niger and based in Niamey, is internationally recognised for his stripped-back Tuareg guitar style and lyrics sung in Tamasheq. On “Tarha”, he sings about love, friendship and the desert. The recording is raw and unembellished — centred on clean guitar phrasing, hand percussion, and natural room acoustics.

Great Big Warm House is a Vienna-based project led by Fab and Leon. Operating between Austria and the UK, they run the independent label Fox Lane Music and work across music, human rights and film. The track forms part of an evolving series of collaborative recordings with artists from Europe and West Africa.
