Transcending conventional genres and drawing on a vast pallet of cultural influences Shabaka Hutchings’ remit includes classical concertos with world-leading orchestras; leading hugely influential bands and most recently and acclaimed solo album, Afrikan Culture.
Afrikan Culture has been lauded as a work of exceptional beauty and urgency and is focused around the eastern Asian instrument, the Shakuhachi, of which Hutchings is a major exponent.
