Wiki -> Photographers -> Naming Conventions

It is REALLY important that you read and adhere to this guide.  We are producing a lot of content and it’s easy for things to get messy.  It may seem overkill to you but believe me when things go wrong or you are looking for something specific and you have a good naming convention in place it makes life a LOT easier.

Naming Galleries

Event: where the name of the event is not the same as the artist:

dd-mm-yyy EVENT NAME @ VENUE/FESTIVAL
27-01-2012 Movimientos & Global Local Presents Latin Quarter @ Richmix

Event: If the event name and artist name are the same put:

dd-mm-yyyy ARTIST NAME @ VENUE
29-04-2015 Toumai Diabate @ Richmix

Portrait:

dd-mm-yyyy ARTIST NAME – EVENT NAME- Portrait

Only add event name if relevant i.e Womad

Naming files

When working in Lightroom or you chosen package please re-name your files to match this:

Events photography (club or stage)

YYYY-MM-DD_E_EVENT-NAME_PHOTGRAPHERS-NAME.###.jpg
2015-07-17_E_Balkan-Beats_KiaCoates_001.jpg


Portraits

YYYY-MM-DD_P_ARTIST-NAME_EVENT-NAME_PHOTGRAPHERS-NAME
2015-07-17_P_Toumani_Diabate_Kia-Coates_001.jpg

– Notice that each section is Separate by an underscore _ but within a section e.g photographers-name or EVENT-NAME by a hyphen –

– Only include EVENT_NAME if relevant

Meta Data

Please make sure you put the following in the TITLE meta data

Event Photography

ARTIST NAME   –  EVENT-NAME @ VENUE
Toumani Diabate – Balkan Beats @ Southbank Center

If the event name and the artist name are the same then
ARTIST NAME @ VENUE

Portrait Photography
ARTIST NAME
