“El Hal” is the feeling that comes when playing music, forgetting where you are. The feeling of being grabbed by the music and lost in the groove. A title that says it all about the third album from the London/Moroccan collective Electric Jalaba around Moroccan-born singer and guimbri player Simo Lagnawi, our album of the week, out on Strut.
Radio Mukambo also serves great new Afro-Colombian music by Bejuco and Son Palenque + some free jazz-fuelled afrobeat variants by La Fuerza Mayor (Buenos Aires), Echoes of Zoo (Brussels) and Punta Diamante (Mexico City). We finish off the podcast with some reggae and Angolan beats.
