Mwalimu Gregg Tendwa is a teacher who left the conservative classroom black board and chalk to pursue his unconventional love for the arts and Afrogoodness. Starting out as a teenage percussionist, he grew up to become a solid piece of organized confusion, whose talent was signed by East Africa’s leading Speakers Bureau and Talent Booking Agency, Africa Artists and Speakers.
Today, Mwl. Gregg Tendwa is a Multimedia artist, freethinker, afrofuturist, cultural activist and creative entrepreneur who explores social reality through music, photography, fashion, food, stories and games.
In his artistic discourse, Mwalimu seeks to question the future place of the African identity. His quest for the place of this identity has led him through paths where he discovered the unmet need for creative actualization in Africa.
Together with David Tinning, a Berlin based Dj and cultural curator, Mwl. Gregg Tendwa started Santuri Safari, a social enterprise renown for organizing roving pop-up studios and curating a 2nd stage at festivals in East Africa.
He is the pioneer and executive producer of Bengatronics, a sound that blends sweet as sugarcane rhythms of the traditional Benga style of music from Kenya, also interpreted as Kanindo/Sungura music in Zimbabwe, and the cutting edge of electronic music.
