Highlife and maloya are two musical styles that have never really encountered each other. Here they do just for a mix of great music. Okwy Osadebe & Highlife Soundmakers deliver classic sounding but fully contemporary highlife made in Nigeria on “Ifunanya”.
From the Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Madagascar, Lindigo has been delivering classic maloya music for over two decades. “Oyé Maloya” is a masterpiece of drums and call-and-response vocals, the way we are used to from these ambassadors of maloya music.
