Daily Discovery: Sari Seramor – Gratitude

Released on the 11th of April, “Gratitude” is the new single from Portuguese artist Sari Seramor, formerly known as Sari Serodio. Known for her self-described “Medicine Dub” style—a mix of dub reggae, folk, and ambient textures—Seramor draws on a wide range of influences, shaped by time spent between the Amazon, Berlin and Lisbon.

Over the past few years, Seramor has shaped a distinctive sound rooted in dub reggae, acoustic folk, and ambient textures: what she refers to as “Medicine Dub.” This track continues her multilingual, globally influenced approach, with lyrics in English and French and a strong focus on emotional clarity.

The song was written in the aftermath of a breakup that marked both the end of a personal relationship and the dissolution of a band the pair had built together over five years. As Seramor explains, “Gratitude” is a parting gesture, less about heartbreak than about consciously releasing a shared vision and moving forward. The tone is calm and direct, steering away from sentimentality. Her voice is restrained, supported by a spacious mix of dub percussion, warm bass, and soft guitar lines.

Lyrically, the song reflects on failure, forgiveness, and mutual growth. There’s a clear sense of distance, but no bitterness. The lyrics point to personal experience but also extend towards something broader: a belief that healing fractured relationships can contribute to collective repair.
