Event Preview: TUN feat. DUB FX + Ekiti Sound @ The Gig Space at Peckham Levels (London; Friday, 17th May 2024)

On Friday, the 17th of May, Peckham Levels is set to amp up the volume with an electrifying night headlined by the trailblazing ensemble TUN (Torino Unlimited Noise) featuring no less than Dub FX, and Ekiti Sound as the opening act.

TUN (Torino Unlimited Noise), the boundary-pushing ensemble is here to redefine your music experience. Hailing from Turin, Italy, they’re not your typical jazz cats. TUN spices up their compositions with techno wizardry. The trio, comprised of Gianni Denitto on sax, Fabio Giachino on synth, and Mattia Barbieri on drums, has made significant strides since their first EP release, engaging audiences with their unique sound and collaborative projects.

Talking of which, their performance will take an exhilarating turn with the featuring of Australian sensation Dub FX. Known for his innovative use of live looping and vocal effects, he adds a unique dimension to the musical offer bringing on board dancehall, dubstep, hip-hop and funk sonorities. His ability to construct intricate soundscapes right before your eyes (and ears!) has garnered a global following, making his featuring a highly anticipated aspect of the event.

To kick things off, Ekiti Sound will deliver electrifying Afro-fusion rhythms, artfully combining the coolness of London with the vibrancy of Lagos. Riding the waves of his latest acclaimed album, Drum Money from Crammed Discs, Ekiti Sound, also known as Leke Awoyinka, stands at the vanguard of an exciting electronic movement from Nigeria, reshaping African music with his genre-defying blend of afrobeat, hip-hop, house, and techno.

So circle Friday the 17th of May on your calendar. This ain’t your average gig; it’s a bass fest as Peckham Levels’ speakers and subs are primed to make you move.
