Yussef Dayes performed “Turquoise Galaxy” live at the KEXP studio in November 2023, supported by Elijah Fox on keys, Malik Venner on sax, Alexander Bourt Windsor on percussion, and Rocco Palladino on bass. Known for his intricate drum techniques and vibrant stage presence, Dayes’s performance demonstrated both his musicianship and dynamic style.

Two months prior to the session, in September 2023, Dayes released his debut solo studio album, Black Classical Music, from which “Turquoise Galaxy” is taken. Released through Brownswood Recordings, Warners, and Cashmere Thoughts Recordings, the album blends jazz, electronica with diverse Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Latin influences and includes contributions from various artists across 19 tracks.
