Yemen Blues’ latest single, “Miss Ballad,” from their album Only Love Remains, showcases the band’s signature fusion of traditional Middle Eastern and African sounds with bold, forward-looking experimentation. Anchored by Ravid Kahalani’s powerful vocals and songwriting, the track shifts between subtle intimacy and striking intensity, embodying the group’s fluid and genre-defying style.
Only Love Remains was crafted during an intensive two-week studio session, centred on Ravid Kahalani’s fully formed compositions. Co-produced with bassist Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz, the record pushes Yemen Blues into fresh creative territory. Percussionist Rony Iwryn and drummer Dan Mayo brought their diverse musical background, influences and improvisational skills, resulting in a work that bridges deeply rooted traditions with inventive and dynamic musical expressions.
“Miss Ballad” exemplifies this approach, thriving on tension and contrast. Its sparse arrangement highlights the interplay between melody and rhythm, with each element meticulously crafted.
