“Barma Soussandi” is the lead single from Waaju & Majid Bekkas‘s collaborative album Alouane. This track blends Moroccan Gnawa music with Waaju’s unique UK jazz sound. Recorded live at London’s Church of Sound, it captures the energy of the performance, with Bekkas’ powerful vocals and guembri paired with Waaju’s rhythmic grooves and dynamic interplay.

This collaboration is Bekkas’ first with a UK band, adding a new layer to his renowned work in Gnawa music. The album, Alouane, features arrangements by Waaju’s Ben Brown, reinterpreting traditional Gnawa songs with a fresh, jazzy and psychedelic twist.
