Tuerci-Core, the daring new project inspired by the muse of dance, Terpsichore, unites Nidi d’Arac and Mundial, in a bold fusion of Mediterranean tradition and electronic experimentation. Their debut single “Maleratu,” released on the 14th of March via German label Galileo Music, is an hypnotic, genre-blurring track.
Built on Mediterranean percussion, mandolin, and violin riffs, the track weaves through dark basslines and layered synths, creating an unrelenting, trance-like intensity. This fusion of traditional and electronic elements reflects the identities of its creators. Nidi d’Arac, led by Alessandro Coppola, has long redefined southern Italian folk, blending pizzica, taranta, and urban electronica. Meanwhile, Mundial, the electro-tribal trio of Carmine Tundo, Roberto Mangialardo, and Alberto Manco, channels Salento’s rich musical heritage into deep, pulsating rhythms and experimental production, further shaping the track’s hypnotic energy.
The raw, distorted vocals, delivered in Salentino dialect, convey a deeply personal turmoil, laced with profanities that heighten the track’s emotional weight. As the intensity escalates, “Maleratu” transforms into a visceral sonic catharsis, merging traditional and electronic elements into a primal, dance-driven crescendo.
Mastered by Philippe Del Sart, “Maleratu” marks the first step in Tuerci-Core’s journey into neo-electronic ethno-experimentation.
