“Rise Up” brings together two Latin American artists working across borders and reggae traditions: Chilean singer Tali Roots, based in North Carolina, and Argentinian producer Zion Within, whose catalogue bridges roots dub, Afro-Caribbean rhythm and digital cumbia textures. The track locks into a slow one-drop pulse, built from tape-saturated bass, offbeat rhythm guitar and snares dialled into classic spring reverb.
Tali Roots delivers with calm intensity, her phrasing shaped by blues, rocksteady and Latin folk traditions. Zion’s arrangement loops with intention, drawing from sound system minimalism but shaped by his long-term interest in Latin rhythmic forms. There are faint traces of chacarera and tambor in the percussive swing, woven subtly into the dub framework.
“Rise Up” frames resistance as a form of presence. It stays close to breath and repetition, treating spiritual clarity and social resistance as linked. It introduces a forthcoming EP shaped by Latin-diasporic collaboration, with upcoming features from Salvador da Bahia and artists active in the southern US reggae scenes. The project leans into stripped-back instrumentation and shared authorship, foregrounding voice, space and message.
