Daily Discovery: Super Panela – Cada Minuto

Toulouse eight-piece Super Panela have spent ten years mixing Afro-Colombian rhythms with jazz and tropical music. “Cada Minuto” shows where all that stage time has taken them: a track built around a steady groove where horns layer over congas and balafon, the sousaphone holds the low end, and Olga Pavia‘s voice carries the lyric with clarity.

Recorded in April 2025 at Waiti Studios in Toulouse, the song deals with love over time, pushing back against how consumerist culture treats relationships as disposable. Pavia makes the point that real connection takes work and attention. song critiques a consumerist idea of romance that treats relationships as disposable, then argues for effort and commitment as the difference between surface and substance.

The band call their sound La Onda Neotropical, linking Afro-Colombian rhythmic structures with jazz phrasing and tropical band form. Jonas Chirouze leads on balafon and direction, with Pavia on voice and clarinet, Valentin Jarry on drums, Cyril Decubber on congas and Aymeric Lacoste on sousaphone. Camille Floriot, Julien Marty and Vincent Palotis complete the horn section on trumpet, tenor sax and trombone.

“Cada Minuto” was recorded during the sessions for Sangre Nueva, their debut album due in February 2026 via Maula Records, following three EPs, radio support from FIP in 2022, and more than 200 shows across France, Spain and England.
