Siwane, fronted by Algerian vocalist Mounia Siwane, brings a fresh twist to Arabo-Andalusian music by weaving in jazz and flamenco influences. Their performance of “Belhawa” during a live session, captured at Polycarpe Studio with Mathurin/Jafar Film handling the production, showcases their inventive fusion of sounds and influences.
Mounia’s expressive vocals, alongside Stani Jardel on guitar, Vincent Dommergue on bass, and Nicolas Delaunay on drums, bring renewed energy to century-old traditional sounds. The song’s lyrics dive into the feelings of unrequited love—sleepless nights, tears, and a deep longing for someone out of reach.
“Belhawa” is part of Siwane’s Noufous EP, released in April. You can stream and listen to the album HERE
