Seun Kuti, alongside his band Egypt 80, has released their latest single “Stand Well Well,” now available on digital platforms. The track draws thematic inspiration from Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, critiquing societal conformity and hierarchical structures. The lyrics delve into the impact of societal norms and power dynamics, with Kuti advocating for individuality against collective pressures.
The track features a striking trumpet solo by Made Kuti, which deepens the song’s resonance with themes of resistance and awareness. This release precedes their upcoming album, Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head), scheduled for release on the 4th of October through Record Kicks.
Following the success of earlier singles like “Dey” with Damian Marley and “T.O.P.,” “Stand Well Well” continues Kuti’s engagement with social issues, maintaining his commitment to musical activism.
