Noumoucounda Cissoko‘s “Sakhodougou” video, from the album Griots, showcases his mastery as a kora player, percussionist, and vocalist.
Hailing from a griot family in Dakar, the Mandinka tradition is ingrained in his soul. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with remarkable artists like Positive Black Soul, Youssou N’Dour, Alpha Blondy, MC Solaar, among others, embodying the essence of the urban griot. His new album, created in his Dakar studio and released via Karantaba Records, delves into profound themes while blending hip-hop with tradition.
In the video, surrounded by his inner circle, he authentically portrays the fusion of modernity and centuries-old heritage. Joined by fellow Senegalese griot Mamy Kanouté, “Sakhodougou” is a harmonious celebration of African musical culture.
