“Jardín del Paraíso,” by Monsieur Periné featuring Bejuco, celebrates Colombian biodiversity and is set against the backdrop of mangrove conservation. Supported by WWF Colombia, Cali’s City Hall, Save the Children, Colombia’s Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Bezos Earth Fund, and 5020 Records, the song highlights the critical role mangroves play in ecological resilience and biodiversity protection.
Released in conjunction with the COP16 biodiversity summit in Cali, the music fuses traditional Afro-Colombian rhythms from drums, marimbas, and other percussive instruments typical of the Pacific region with Latin pop elements, all under the musical direction of Santiago Prieto. Catalina García, along with Julio Reyes and Bejuco, crafted lyrics that explore a profound connection to Colombia’s diverse landscapes, aiming to inspire listeners to embrace their identity and engage in conservation efforts.
