Los Argonautas, led by Quito-based producers Juan Hinojosa and Mateo Villalba, release “El Favor de Hera” ahead of their debut album Audionáutica. The track showcases their grounding in soul, funk, and Jamaican uptempo styles, while tying into the mythological narrative that frames the LP.
Centred on a rocksteady rhythm, “El Favor de Hera” is carried by horn arrangements performed by Argentine flugelhorn player Hugo Lobo. The production, tracked with a multinational cast of musicians, places analogue textures at the forefront: bass guitar, rhythm guitar chops, and organ sustain an instrumental dialogue that feels both rooted and expansive.
Part of the wider 13-track Audionáutica, the song embodies Los Argonautas’ approach to storytelling through groove, drawing on Ecuadorian studio culture while reaching outward to Jamaica, Cuba, Brazil, and beyond.
