Katchafire, the iconic all-Māori Pacific reggae band from Kirikiriroa (Hamilton, New Zealand), celebrates the 21st anniversary of their debut album Revival with the release of “Seriously (Revived Version).” This reimagined track breathes fresh life into one of their early favourites, blending their signature roots-reggae sound with a dubby, polished edge. The revived version maintains the soulful essence of the original while introducing new layers of rhythm and groove, embodying the band’s evolution.
Described by founding member Logan Bell as a “love lament,” “Seriously” reflects the sacrifices made in pursuit of their passion for music, balancing heartfelt lyrics with a catchy, upbeat groove.
This track is part of a larger project reviving the Revival album, featuring remixes and collaborations with reggae artists from around the world. Produced alongside Jamaican talent Stephen “Dubklaat” Maxwell and engineer Philip McFarlane (EarthKry), the album honours the band’s beginnings while embracing the future.
