Daily Discovery: Katchafire – Collie Herb Man (Revival 2.0)

“Collie Herb Man (Revival 2.0)” reopens the door to Katchafire’s beginnings, remixed and remastered ahead of the Revival 2.0 album due 9 January 2026. The new single, released 29 August, brings fresh clarity to one of the band’s signature tracks, with Logan Bell’s opening “Come on” still sparking instant recognition. Built on skanking guitar, horns, and laid-back rhythm section interplay, it remains inseparable from their rise out of Kirikiriroa (Hamilton, New Zealand) into a global roots reggae phenomenon.

First recorded around 2000 for their debut Revival, the song was the group’s introduction to the studio. As Bell explains, “Remixing the album is something we’ve always talked about. Twenty-three years on we got the chance, and it was really fun to hear the original performances. They still stand up today and it made me feel real proud of those early recordings and the OG team.”

Katchafire’s catalogue now spans five studio albums, platinum sales, and international touring, but their ethos has stayed consistent: reggae as a vehicle for whānau and Māori identity, carried with humility from Aotearoa to audiences worldwide. With upcoming tour dates in the US this September, Australia in November, and New Zealand alongside UB40 in February 2026, the band show no sign of slowing down.
