Daily Discovery: Jade & Naïa – En El Sol

Franco-Congolese sisters Jade & Naïa, raised in the Canary Islands and now based in Brussels, continue to carve their own direction with the single “En El Sol”. The duo began singing together as church choristers in 2016, moving from covers of French, Belgian, and Latin artists to original material in 2020. Since then, their releases have traced a path across Afro-Latin, r&b, trap, reggaeton, and dancehall currents, always inflected by the soundscapes of their upbringing between Spain and France.

“En El Sol” introduces a Bouyon rhythm into that palette, anchoring Spanish-language vocals against driving percussion and electronic bass. Bouyon, rooted in Dominica, is not a style commonly paired with Spanish lyrics, yet here it underpins a composition shaped by Afro influences and urban production. The sisters’ vocal phrasing alternates between smooth melodic lines and clipped rhythmic delivery, locking tightly with the beat while keeping the song’s centre melodic.

“En El Sol” shows Jade & Naïa stepping away from the safer routes of European pop and standard Afro-Latin formulas. By placing Spanish vocals over a Bouyon rhythm and urban production, they create a track that sounds direct, unexpected, and firmly their own.
