“Ceu & Mar” was recorded in February 2025 as part of MOBILE STUDIO BAHIA 2025, a one-month project led by trombonist-producer Isaackito and sound engineer Charel. The two travelled across Bahia—from Salvador to Itaparica—equipped with a self-contained mobile studio powered by a single outlet. Over the course of the trip, they recorded 16 artists on location. This track features São Salvador vocalist Fabrizio Santana and Bahia-based rapper Nathan MC, whose vocal takes were captured in improvised sessions on streets, ferry landings, and community spaces.
The instrumental draws on samba-reggae and Afro-Brazilian rhythmic structures. Santana delivers the chorus with steady melodic phrasing, while Nathan’s verses follow a call-and-response logic built on clipped, syncopated lines. Isaackito’s trombone enters between vocal passages, adding counterpoint without overshadowing the groove. The recording includes ambient sound — reverb, breath, background noise — treated as part of the arrangement rather than removed.
Isaackito developed his mobile studio after 15 years of international touring. As co-founder of French funk group Malka Family, he worked with artists in Réunion, Mali, Madagascar, Brazil, and Europe. His “plug-and-play” setup allows fast, location-based recording with no need for a traditional studio. This approach reduces cost and increases spontaneity.
“Ceu & Mar” reflects the project’s core principle: make music in the moment, shaped by place and shared experience. The song also previews Mobile Studio Bahia 2025, which releases in September 2025.
This album captures 16 collaborations recorded entirely on location. Each track documents a specific encounter, made possible by Isaackito’s portable method and Charel’s engineering. Their process turns each site into a studio. As a result, Ceu & Mar feels immediate, rooted, and specific to the place where it was made.
