Iraiz is an Ecuadorian singer-songwriter who has extensively explored and performed Latin American music. She has specialised in 20th-century popular genres such as waltz, tango, and pasillo.

She collaborates with her brother, Sebastián Oviedo, who acts as her musical director, and other notable musicians from Quito in her project, La Mistura.

Starting as a duo in 2008, the project has transitioned into her solo act, leading to her debut album Criollando con Amigos in 2021, a celebration of Latin American musical heritage.

“El Festejo” is inspired by Iraiz’s return to her hometown after eight years. The song captures her celebration of reconnecting with Quito and the cherished memories from her early years.
