“TUCUCU” is a vibrant new single that marks the first collaboration between the Asturian artist Rodrigo Cuevas and the Burgos-based band El Nido. Available on all major streaming platforms, the track blends traditional folklore with contemporary sounds, recorded in picturesque Burgos locales such as Mahamud and Castrojeriz. The song, inspired by local festivals and folk music, seeks to reconnect audiences with the communal spirit of village festivals and the simple joy of folk music.
El Nido combines modern sounds with traditional Spanish rhythms, addressing contemporary issues through traditional instruments. Their debut album Huella y Camino was released in 2020, followed by Refugios A Cielo Abierto in 2022.
Rodrigo Cuevas started his musical journey at age eight and deepened his connection with traditional music in a small Galician village. His career includes the 2012 debut album Yo Soy la Maga, the formation of the provocative dance duo La Dolorosa Compañía, and the critically acclaimed albums Manual de Cortejo and Manual de Romería which has played a significant role in revitalising Asturias’ folk scene.
