Daily Discovery: El León Pardo – Viaje Sideral

Cartagena-based trumpeter and composer El León Pardo returns with Viaje Sideral, his second full-length album and a clear evolution in his sound. The title track introduces a record that blends traditional Caribbean elements with ambient textures, analog synths and a strong sense of rhythmic exploration.

At the centre is the kuisi, the ancestral Zenú flute that has become a defining part of his musical identity. Inspired by a dream of two stars colliding with Earth, Viaje Sideral reflects a fascination with mythology, space, and sonic experimentation.

Across nine tracks, the album blends 70s tropical psychedelia with ambient, dub and electronic references, think Kraftwerk, Terry Riley, and Pedro Laza in the same orbit. Featuring guests like Edson Velandia and N. Hardem, it’s a sonic universe where folklore isn’t just preserved, it’s reimagined.
