Ghanaian highlife legend Ebo Taylor collaborates with Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad on “Obi Do Woa (If Someone Loves You),” the lead track for Jazz Is Dead Series 021.

The song opens with a powerful horn line reminiscent of Taylor’s classic “Love and Death,” followed by a fusion of analog synths, funky horns, and gritty percussion, with Taylor’s voice delivering a commanding presence.

Founded in 2017 by Younge and Muhammad, Jazz Is Dead brings together contemporary musicians to reimagine jazz’s rich history. Using vintage equipment, they craft fresh soundscapes that pay tribute to genre legends. Jazz Is Dead 021, set for release in early October, features recordings from iconic artists, fusing the sounds of West Africa with the psychedelic soul of Brazil, with contributions from Dom Salvador, Antonio Carlos & Jocafi, Carlos Dafé and others.
