London-based Turkish artist Djanan Turan unveils her latest single, “Bliss,” from her new album Love’s Company, released on the 27th of September. Known for her blend of psychedelic Anatolian folk, electro-pop, reggae, and funk, Turan’s sound is distinctive and evocative. The single “Bliss” features her engaging lyrical craftsmanship and dynamic songwriting, featuring contributions from Berdin Pamukcu (guitar), Tansay Omar (drums), Levent Canan (bass), Alice Mary Jelaska (clarinet), and Turan herself on keys.
Love’s Company addresses themes of migration, resilience, and human connections, weaving Turan’s personal reflections with universal truths across its bilingual tracks. The album varies in tone from the introspective melancholy of “Crux” to the uplifting spirit of the title track, illustrating Turan’s versatility as musician.
For over two decades, Djanan Turan has enriched London’s alternative music scene. Her discography includes the Turkish album Düğüm, the English EPs Artigo and Maze, and singles like “Dancing Feet” and “Dunya,” the latter featuring Olcay Bayir. Turan’s music fuses the rich textures of Anatolian tradition with contemporary and urban and global influences, reflecting her dual identity as a Turkish artist deeply connected to her roots and a London-based musician immersed in the sounds of the world.
