Daily Discovery: De Strangers – Tea Bubbling (feat. Jules I)

Milan-based roots reggae collective De Strangers team up with Jules I, vocalist and bassist of Mellow Mood, for “Tea Bubbling,” a highlight from their collaborative album Timeless Bond, released 8 May via La Tempesta Dub.

Built on a classic one-drop rhythm and deep live instrumentation, the track fuses De Strangers’ textured dub aesthetic with Jules I’s grounded, melodically precise vocal delivery. His lyrics use the image of tea bubbling as a metaphor for steady resistance and the quiet endurance of those who carry messages of love, balance and persistence in a noisy world.

Recorded and mixed at Studio La Sabbia in Milan, the track brings together a seasoned ensemble. Elia Pozzi lays the rhythmic foundation with crisp drumming, percussion, and bass, while Emiliano Vegro adds depth and warmth with piano, Hammond, synthesizer, and melodica. Nicolas Biscione handles rhythm and lead guitar, complemented by Ferruccio Perrone’s understated tonal shading. Giovanni Doneda reinforces the bassline, and a tight horn section—Alessandro Luppi on tenor sax and Didier Yon on trombone—threads classic brass textures through the arrangement.

“Tea Bubbling” is a carefully crafted slice of contemporary roots reggae—thoughtful, rhythmically grounded, and rich in tone—underscoring De Strangers’ dedication to both analogue tradition and collaborative creativity.
