Los Angeles-based producer and DJ Captain Planet recently collaborated with Colombian singer Jimena Angel to create an uplifting and empowering Afro-Latin funky tune titled “Pambelé.”

The song was written during Captain Planet’s tour in South America, where he connected with Jimena and worked on the beat.

The tune is extracted from Captain Planet’s 5th album, Sounds Like Home, which takes a turn toward more organic and retro sounds, incorporating horn sections, strings, and acoustic drums. The album features a kaleidoscopic array of genres from around the world, including Brazilian disco, Latin funk, Jamaican dub, Middle Eastern psychedelia, and American soul music.
