Chilean label Ritmos del Sur introduces a fresh remix of Arumbo‘s “Agüita Cristalina,” from their latest release, Mirada Transversal Remixes. This reinterpretation features the creative collaboration of De las Esferas and Ritmos Cholulteka. Arumbo is a collaborative project between Marta Meix Garcia from Barcelona and Jonas Mertens from Brussels. Since its inception in 2015, the duo has drawn inspiration from their life experiences, captivating audiences with over 250 concerts across Europe. Their album, Mirada Transversal, includes contributions from Jairo Palchukan, an indigenous musician from Colombia, exploring spirituality and introspection.
In this remix, De las Esferas, a multi-instrumentalist influenced by cultures from Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina, blends Latin American rhythms with downtempo and folktronica influences, adding depth and texture to the track. Lisbon-based, Mexican DJ and photographer Ritmos Cholulteka, a pioneer of the cumbia scene in Lisbon, with his background in traditional Mexican music and forward-looking approach, enriches the sound further. The remix combines cumbia with electronic and psychedelic elements, creating a dynamic new version of the original.
Originally released as part of Mirada Transversal in October 2023, “Agüita Cristalina” pays tribute to water, celebrating its life-giving and spiritual qualities. This remix highlights the collaborative spirit of artists from diverse backgrounds, showcasing the power of music to connect cultures around the world.
